After the Flood ~ by Kassandra Montag: #bookreview

While Montag’s writing was atmospheric and riveting and the characters were well developed, this book just wasn’t for me.

It left me feeling bored, wanting more and it had an undercurrent of dispair throughout the whole book that made me feel exhausted. Perhaps because I listened to it?

Irregardless Myra was very selfish, Jacob’s character and story was pretty much non-existant, Abram was cruel and Daniel was weak and passive. Honestly the only character I liked was Pearl and perhaps it was because I felt sorry for all she had to endure during Myra’s quest to find Row.

This book is set 100 years in the future where the world is flooded and Myra is in search of her missing daughter, that her lf kidnapped, all while dragging around the daughter she was pregnant with when Pearl went missing.

I am not a huge dystopian fan and would not have picked up this book if it wasn’t for a buddy read. With that said, many readers thought it was amazing and give it wonderful reviews for a debut, so definitely give it a read especially if you do enjoy dystopian novels.
